June brings back Kid’s Night and Snook Haven’s first-ever “Hoppy Hour.”
Summer is here, meaning that it’s time for some good ‘ole fun in good ‘ole Florida at Snook Haven. Kid’s Night, a well-loved family favorite, returns while “Hoppy Hour,” Snook Haven’s very own happy hour, joins the festivities. Along with the smokehouse’s celebrated calendar of live music and ongoing canoe or kayak rentals, these events guarantee that there is something for everyone to enjoy as the Florida weather gets even hotter.
Thinking about getting out of the house on a Friday night? Beginning on Friday, June 14th, bring the kids down to Snook Haven for Kid’s Night. The event will run weekly on Fridays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the summer months, rain or shine. Interactive games, prizes, food and more will keep the kids busy while the adults can indulge in delicious BBQ, savor a locally-brewed draft beer or take in live entertainment.
According to Snook Haven Manager Jenny Makowski, Kid's Night began as a "Pinterest-style" event filled with games assembled from materials found at home. But, she said, it has evolved over the years to include more durable games that can withstand the outdoors.
"Our goal is to get kids away from the television and outside enjoying nature," Makowski said. "We want them to be kids, not drones."
Don't forget the kids’ swimsuits – there will be plenty of water games so they can stay cool.
Feel like relaxing along the Myakka River with a cold brew in hand? You’re in luck. On Tuesday, June 4th, Snook Haven hosted its first-ever summer “Hoppy Hour, and it’ll occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Grab a seat on the sunny back deck and enjoy afternoon happy hour specials on 16 oz. draft beers and a few fan favorite starters, like pork and brisket sliders or Snook Haven’s renowned smoked chicken wings.
"We have a great selection of locally-brewed craft beers and domestic drafts, and this is an excellent opportunity to become familiar with some of the amazing options we have," Makowski said. "If you're just getting off of work and feel like having a cold beer or have been out on the river all day and need a quick bite, this is the perfect time to do it."
